En el mes de septiembre, Voluntarios OHL ha tenido el gusto de entrevistar
a Ignacio Cano, Director de RRHH de OHL-Construcción, para que nos
trasladara su experiencia en su primer Camino de Santiago junto a Voluntarios
OHL y la Fundación Down Madrid.
In the month of
September, OHL Volunteers had the pleasure of interviewing Ignacio Cano, Human
Resources Director at OHL-Construcción, so that he could share his experience
on his first Camino de Santiago with OHL Volunteers and the Down Madrid
Foundation.

you would define OHL Volunteers:
¿Cómo conociste el grupo de Voluntarios
OHL?
Son muchas las actividades que se impulsan desde
Voluntarios, las primeras acciones estaban más encaminadas a la sensibilización
sobre la importancia de la integración social, y creo que el primer contacto con
Voluntarios OHL fue en un mercadillo solidario para ayudar a varias ONGs.
How did you meet OHL
Volunteers?
There are many activities
that are promoted by the Volunteers, the first actions were more aimed at
raising awareness about the importance of social integration, and I believe
that the first contact with OHL Volunteers was in a solidarity market to help
several NGOs.
¿Cuál ha sido el momento más especial de
la Séptima Edición del Camino de Santiago?
Fue
especialmente emotiva la llegada a Santiago, el encuentro de los chicos con sus
padres después de muchos días de esfuerzo lejos de sus familias, pero quizás lo
más especial para mí ha sido haber tenido la oportunidad de dialogar con algunos
chavales durante el camino y poder escuchar sus sentimientos y opiniones con
transparencia y honestidad, algo a lo que nuestra sociedad no nos tiene muy
acostumbrados.
What was the most special
moment of the Seventh Edition of the Camino de Santiago ?
The arrival at Santiago
was especially emotional, the encounter of the kids with their parents after
many days of effort away from their families, but perhaps the most special
thing for me was the opportunity to talk with some of the kids along the way
and hear about their feelings and opinions with transparency and honesty,
something to which we are not very accustomed in our society.
¿Recomendarías a tus compañeros que
participaran en el voluntariado corporativo del Grupo OHL? ¿Por qué?
Es una experiencia
que recomiendo a todo el mundo, y no solo por el apoyo a un colectivo
especialmente vulnerable como el grupo de la Fundación Down, sino por la
satisfacción personal que supone compartir tu tiempo con personas a las que
crees que vas a ayudar y con las que enseguida te das cuenta de lo mucho que te
aportan a ti, acabas recibiendo más de lo que das. Personalmente resulta muy
enriquecedor.
Would you recommend your
colleagues participate in corporate volunteering of the OHL Group? Why?
It is an experience that
I would recommend to everyone, and not only for the support of a particularly
vulnerable group such as the Down Foundation, but for the personal satisfaction
of sharing your time with people you think you are going to help and with which
you immediately realize how much they contribute to you; you end up receiving
more than you give. Personally, I think it is very enriching.
¿Cuáles crees que son los beneficios del
Voluntariado Corporativo en una empresa?
Hacer
coincidir a personas que ponen al servicio de la comunidad su preocupación, su
trabajo y su tiempo resulta tremendamente valioso para una empresa como OHL, sentir
que participamos de algún modo en hacer una sociedad mejor con nuestro
compromiso individual y colectivo genera un espacio de cooperación y diálogo
que, sin duda, favorece el orgullo de pertenencia a la Organización.
What do you think are the
benefits of Corporate Volunteering for a company?
Matching people who put
their concerns, work and time at the service of the community is tremendously
valuable for a company like OHL, feeling that we participate in some way in
making a better society with our individual and collective commitment generates
a space of cooperation and dialog that, undoubtedly, favors the pride of
belonging to the Organization.
¿Qué tipo de actividades te gustaría que
realizara Voluntarios OHL?
Todas aquellas
relacionadas con la integración social de colectivos desfavorecidos y que
ayuden a mejorar su calidad de vida. Creo que se está trabajando en la
dirección correcta aunque sería deseable una mayor participación.
What kind of activities would
you like to do with OHL Volunteers?
All those related to the social
integration of disadvantaged groups and that help to improve their quality of
life. I believe that we are working in the right direction, although greater
participation would be desirable.
¿En qué crees que podría mejorar el
Grupo de Voluntarios OHL?
El trabajo que
se está haciendo desde Acción Social es muy positivo, pero creo que habría que
insistir en dar a conocer a todos los empleados de la Compañía la labor que se
está realizando buscando la colaboración de más personas de nuestro Grupo, lo
que seguro favorecerá nuestro compromiso con una sociedad mejor y más justa.
How do you think that the
OHL Volunteer Group could improve?
The work that is being
done from Social Action is very positive, but I think we should insist on
making the work being done known to all employees of the Company, seeking the
collaboration of more people in our Group, which will certainly favor our
commitment to a better and more just society.
